Taylor Carico Earns Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., -- USC sophomore setter Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) earned 2007 Pac-10 Conference All-Academic second team honors as announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Carico currently has a 3.55 grade-point-average at USC.

This season, she has an 12.64 apg average on 1,428 assists along with 233 digs (2.06 dpg) for the Trojans and has 124 kills (1.10) with a .349 hitting percentage and 57 blocks (0.50 bpg). Her 1,428 assists for the season place her third on USC's single-season list and she is 17 away from her total of 1,445 set last season for second place and 62 away from the school record of 1,490, held by Janice Mounts (1998).

On Nov. 8, she moved into seventh place on USC's all-time list for career assists, passing Sue Peters (1989-92) and on Nov. 24, she moved into fifth place after a 46-assist match at Arizona State to move past Monika Cavaliere (2,747) and Tracy Lindquist (2,766).

Four other USC players received honorable mention recognition: Katelyn Bishop, Diane Copenhagen, Bethany Johansen and Chelsea Wilson.
