Three Former Bruins Earn PGA Tour Cards

At the recent PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in Florida, three former UCLA players earned their Tour cards for the 2008 season, bringing the total number of former UCLA players on the professional circuit to eight.

Parker McLachlin (UCLA '02), John Merrick (UCLA '04) and Duffy Waldorf (UCLA '86) each earned the right to play on the PGA Tour for the 2008 calendar year.

McLachlin tied for 11th place with scores of 70-71-68-67-67-72--415 (-17). Waldorf tied for 14th at 416 (-16) after posting scores of 74-69-73-69-65-66. Merrick, who played on the tour last season as a rookie, tied for 23rd with scores of 68-69-73-66-73-67. Both Waldorf and Merrick jumped several spots up the leaderboard after sizzling final rounds.

Last season, Merrick and McLachlin earned over $600,000 and Waldorf earned more than $350,000.
