BRUIN INJURY REPORT
Junior forward/center Alfred Aboya, who suffered a fractured orbital floor of his right eye in the Bruins' win over Yale (Nov. 23), has played the last three games.
All-American point guard Darren Collison saw his first action of the year against George Washington (Nov. 28) and made his first start of the season against Texas (Dec. 2) after spraining his left knee (MCL) in the exhibition game against Azusa Pacific (Nov. 2).
Junior guard Michael Roll worked out on Nov. 27 with contact for the first time since rupturing his plantar fascia in his left foot during practice on Nov. 3. He played five minutes of the Texas game (Dec. 2) and 11 minutes against Davidson (Dec. 8).
Sophomore forward James Keefe practiced for the first time with contact this year on Dec. 4 after having surgery on Aug. 10 to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He is doubtful for the Idaho State game (Dec. 15) and probable for the Western Illinois contest (Dec. 18).
UCLA sports a national ranking of No. 8 in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and Associated Press poll.
SERIES VS. IDAHO STATE
This is just the fourth meeting between UCLA and Idaho State with the Bruins leading the series 2-1, including 2-0 in Pauley Pavilion. UCLA won the last meeting, the 1983-84 season opener, 85-58 at home on Nov. 25, 1983. ISU's lone win in the series was one of the largest in the school's history. Steve Hayes led the unranked Bengals with a game-high 27 points and a 76-75 NCAA West Regional upset over No. 2-ranked UCLA in Provo, Utah, on March 17, 1977. The Bruins were led by Marques Johnson's 21 points.
BRUINS IMPROVE TO 8-3 IN JOHN R. WOODEN CLASSIC
UCLA improved to 8-3 all-time in the John R. Wooden Classic with a 75-63 victory over Davidson on Dec. 8, 2007, in Honda Center (Anaheim, Calif.). The Bruins also improved to 7-0 in the Wooden Classic when they are ranked (1-3 as an unranked team). Luc Richard Mbah a Moute led the five Bruins in double figures with 21 points. He also had eight rebounds. Kevin Love posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 boards. Josh Shipp added 15 points, followed by Russell Westbrook and Darren Collison, who scored 14 and 10 points, respectively.
WHAT'S WITH THE 'C'?
Several Bruin teams will be wearing special jerseys or patches in 2007-08 to commemorate UCLA being the First to 100 NCAA Championships. The men's basketball team will don the new jerseys that have a different-colored 'C' in UCLA. The 'C' signifies the Roman numeral for 100.
