McDaniel Selected Golfworld's Midseason Coach of the Year

BERKELEY, Calif. - California head coach Nancy McDaniel has been selected the Midseason Coach of the Year by Golf World Magazine for the Golden Bears' performance during the fall of 2007.

McDaniel directed Cal to four top-five finishes during the fall, including a first-place showing at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in September. The Bears capped the first half of the 2007-08 season with a third-place result at the Kent Youel Invitational in October.

Cal is also currently ranked No. 10 by Golfweek with a 296.4 stroke average through 12 rounds.

McDaniel is in her 13th season as the founding coach of the Cal women's golf team. She has directed Cal to six NCAA Championships, including three straight top five finishes from 2004-06.

In 2002-03, McDaniel was named the National Golf Coaches Association Coach of the Year, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professional Coach of the Year and Golfweek Magazine's Coach of the Year. She also garnered her second Pac-10 Coach of the Year and NGCA Western Regional Co-Coach of the Year selections and was honored as California's Athletic Alumni Association's Big C Society Coach of the Year.
