Two Pac-10 teams will face the No. 1 team in the nation this week as the Tennessee Lady Vols hit the West Coast ... UCLA will be the first to take on Candace Parker and company Wed., Dec. 19 at Pauley Pavilion ... STANFORD will also host defending national champion UT on Sat., Dec. 22 in a 7:30 p.m. matchup which will be aired live on Fox Sports Net ... It will be Tennessee's first visit to the UCLA campus since 1999, and just a short two years since the Lady Vols visited Maples Pavilion (2005).

Three tournaments are on the docket this week for Pac-10 teams as OREGON STATE wraps up its stay in Honolulu, Hawai'i taking on the host Rainbow Wahine Mon., Dec. 17 ... The Beavers split their first two games in the tournament ... OREGON heads to Cancun, Mexico for the Caribbean Classic where it will take on South Florida and Tulsa on Tues., Dec. 18 and Wed., Dec. 19, respectively ... The Ducks are 2-0 in games played at a neutral site this season ... USC is set to host its own Women of Troy Basketball Classic this week ... The Trojans will go head-to-head with Grambling State on Thurs., Dec. 20 and will face either Portland State or Hawai'i on Fri., Dec. 21.

Just one more week of non-conference play remains before Pac-10 teams take to the floor to battle it out against each other for Conference bragging rights ... The opening of league play will see the Los Angeles schools travel to the desert, including a USC at ARIZONA STATE game on Sun., Dec. 30 which will be televised by Fox Sports Net ... The Washington schools will head to the Bay Area to take on nationally-ranked Stanford and CALIFORNIA, while Oregon and Oregon State will duke it out in their traditional rival first round game ... The Sat., Dec. 29 matchup between the Ducks and Beavers will be televised by Fox Sports Net Northwest.

There is good news to report for Pac-10 women's basketball on the injury front ... Two players returned to the lineup over the last week, including California JR F/C Devanei Hampton (knee) and Arizona State SR G Reagan Pariseau (ankle) ... Hampton played in both games of Cal's East Coast road swing, averaging 7.5 points and three rebounds ... In her first game back, Pariseau played 25 minutes in the four-point loss to Texas Tech (73-69) ... She was 4-for-4 from the floor, scoring nine points, while chipping in three assists, one steal and one rebound.

The University of Arizona women's basketball team jumped from seventh place in the Pac-10 standings to a tie for third place in the span of one week ... With a 6-4 overall record, the Wildcats have one non-conference game remaining before hitting Pac-10 play, as they will take on Wisconsin-Green Bay on Thurs., Dec. 20 ... UA is riding a four-game win streak, second to only Stanford, which has won five in a row ... FR F Ify Ibekwe, who recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, put in a layup as time expired, boosting Arizona to the thrilling 62-61 comeback win over Boise State on Wednesday ... The `Cats had just eight players suited up on Saturday, but put together an outstanding defensive effort to defeat New Mexico, 44-36 ... It was the second-lowest point total for a Pac-10 opponent this season ... JR F Amina Njonkou recorded her third double-double of the season with a 14-point, 12-rebound effort against the Lobos ... Ibekwe missed Saturday's game against New Mexico after suffering an eye injury during practice on Friday ... She is averaging 13.8 points and 10.0 rebounds in her last six games, and has a season average of 11.6 ppg to rank 11th in the Conference in scoring.

Arizona State dropped a close 73-69 Thursday game to Texas Tech, which has received votes in both national polls as of late, and put together a 30-point rout of Fresno State on Monday morning ... GRAD G Jill Noe posted season-best totals for points (20), rebounds (10) and tied her season best with three 3-point field goals in the game with Texas Tech ... Four players scored in double-figures against the Bulldogs, led by JR C Sybil Dosty who scored 13 points in 16 minutes ... JR F/C Lauren Lacy and JR C Kirsten Thompson each added 12 points on five field goals and two free throws made ... The trio combined for an impressive 15-for-22 (68%) mark from the floor, which is one reason why Arizona State ranks atop the league in field goal percentage (.455) ... Despite not one Sun Devil player ranking in the Pac-10's individual Top-10 for field goal percentages, the team still paces the Conference in this category because of its solid shot selection, inside looks and overall accuracy ... ASU has an important game with 19/23 Texas Thurs., Dec. 20 in Tempe ... The Sun Devils are 59-6 in Wells Fargo Arena in the past four-plus seasons.

When California meets up with Kansas Fri., Dec. 21 in Haas Pavilion, it will have had an 11-day respite since its close 56-51 loss to 6/3 Rutgers in New Jersey ... JR F/C Ashley Walker led all Cal players with 14 points, while SO F/C Rama N'diaye and RS SO G Alexis Gray-Lawson added 12 points each ... Walker's 14 points moved her into 11th place on Cal's career scoring charts with 1,140 points ... The Bears, in sole possession of second place in the Pac-10 with an 8-2 overall record, are outscoring their opponents by an average of 10 points, one of just two Pac-10 teams with a double-digit scoring advantage ... The team also paces the Conference in scoring defense as opponents are averaging just 56.8 points per game ... Through 10 games of the regular season, California is one of the strongest teams in the nation, ranking 12th in this week's Associated Press poll ... Four of Cal's wins this season have come against 2007 NCAA Tournament participants by a margin of 258-207 ... The Bears' two losses by a combined 15 points were against Baylor and Rutgers, both of which are ranked in the Top-10 this season.

Oregon took on 10/10 Baylor last week but could not come away with a win as it was defeated 80-45 ... The Ducks, 5-4 overall, are tied for fourth in the league standings ... All nine players who saw playing time in the game with the Lady Bears scored, led by the nine points from FR F Ellie Manou who went 4-for-8 from the floor ... Off the bench, FR G/F Victoria Kenyon added eight points on 6-of-6 shooting from the free throw line ... The Ducks, who have responded well after a loss, going an undefeated 3-0 after a defeat, will play in the Caribbean Classic this week ... Oregon is 2-0 this season in games played at a neutral site ... South Florida is the seventh team Oregon has played this season that reached the postseason in 2006-07 ... Marquette and New Mexico were NCAA Tournament participants, while USF, South Dakota State, Coppin State and UC Santa Barbara competed in the WNIT ... Oregon is facing its second Big East opponent this season in South Florida, having already defeated Marquette, 57-56 on Nov. 20 ... The Big East is ranked as the No. 1 conference in the latest Collegiate Basketball News RPI report.

The Oregon State women's basketball team wraps up a busy 10 days of play this week ... The Beavers conclude their trip to Hawai'i by playing the host Rainbow Wahine Mon., Dec. 17 at the Island Imaging Paradise Classic ... After returning to Corvallis Tuesday, the club hosts Texas Southern Thurs., Dec. 20 in a game that marks the last non-conference regular season game ... Over the last week, the Beavers went 1-2, including a 78-55 victory over Tennessee Tech ... SR G Ashley Allen had an impressive two games at the tournament in Hawaii, scoring a combined 58 points, including 34 against Western Carolina ... The 34 points marks the first time an OSU player surpassed the 30-point plateau since 2006, and the 58 points was the best two-game stretch by a Beaver since Felicia Ragland had 69 points against Portland and Kansas State in 2001 ... Allen has moved ahead of the other Ashley, California JR F/C Ashley Walker, for first place in the Pac-10 in scoring with a 19.9 ppg average ... Allen also ranks second in the Conference in 3-point field goals made (2.33).

Stanford showed why it is one of the top teams in the nation, defeating 10/10 Baylor, 87-63, on Sunday at Maples Pavilion ... SR G Candice Wiggins was extraordinary on both ends of the floor, scoring 35 points on 11-of-22 from the field, including a 4-of-9 mark from long range ... Wiggins went 9-for-12 from the charity stripe, adding four rebounds, four steals, three assists, two blocks, while committing zero turnovers ... Wiggins now has 2,000 career points to rank 10th on the Pac-10 scoring charts ... She needs 62 more points to tie fellow Cardinal Nicole Powell (2001-04) for ninth place ... FR F Kayla Pedersen added 22 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season ... Stanford has two big games this week, including a road trip to New Mexico for a Tues., Dec. 18 game, followed by a Sat., Dec. 22 showdown with 1/1 Tennessee, the 2007 NCAA champion ... The last time the Cardinal met up with the Lady Vols they were defeated, 77-60, in Knoxville ... Head coach Tara VanDerveer is just three wins away from career victory No. 700 ... Only four other coaches in women's basketball history have surpassed the 700-win plateau, including Tennessee's Pat Summitt, Rutgers' Vivian Stringer, North Carolina's Sylvia Hatchell and North Carolina State's Kay Yow.

UCLA (4-5)

This Week: Tennessee (12/19); UC Riverside (12/21)
UCLA suffered a 10-point loss to BYU over the weekend, 68-58, dropping its record to 4-5 overall ... The Bruins must rebound quickly as they take on 1/1 Tennessee on Wed., Dec. 19 in Los Angeles, followed by UC Riverside Fri., Dec. 21 ... Against BYU, UCLA was led by SR F Lindsey Pluimer and FR F Nina Earl who each scored 13 points a piece ... Pluimer added nine rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal, while Earl chipped in four boards and two steals ... The matchup with the Lady Vols will be the second home game against a Top-5 opponent as UCLA also hosted 3/3 Maryland on Nov. 25, dropping the close 79-75 contest ... UCLA, one of the strongest offensive teams in the Conference, has struggled to put points on the board in its previous two games, including a 57-point output against San Diego on Dec. 8 ... Regardless, the Bruins still lead the Pac-10 in scoring offense at 75.4 points per game.

USC (5-4)

This Week: Grambling State (12/20); vs. Women of Troy Basketball Classic (12/21)
USC split two games last week, earning a 55-52 win over Pepperdine at home to remain unbeaten at the Galen Center this season (3-0) ... The Trojans were not as successful on the road, dropping an 82-61 game at Michigan ... JR C Nadia Parker scored seven points in eight minutes - including her first 3-pointer of the season - in Monday's game against the Wolverines, then went on to help push the Trojans to victory over Pepperdine, scoring 17 second-half points to spark a comeback win for USC ... Parker scored all but eight of USC's last 25 points against Pepperdine to pull the Trojans out of a 10-point deficit ... All 17 of her game-high points came during that stretch, and the junior also had two steals and a block in the win ... The team returns to the court this week for the Women of Troy Classic in which it will face Grambling State on Thurs., Dec. 20 and either Portland State or Hawai'i in action on Fri., Dec. 21.

SR F/C Andrea Plouffe returned to the Washington lineup for the first time this season, but it was not enough as the Huskies were defeated by 19/17 Ohio State, 71-54 ... Plouffe played 21 minutes against the Buckeyes after sitting out the first 10 games of the season due to an Achilles injury ... FR G/F Katelan Redmon led Washington with 11 points and FR F/C Jess McCormack added 10 points off the bench ... Washington equaled its season-low for turnovers with 15, while forcing Ohio State into 21 miscues ... Washington has just one game this week before it heads to the Bay Area for Pac-10 play .... UW, 4-7 overall, will take on Purdue Fri., Dec. 21 at Bank of America Arena ... The game with Purdue, a 2007 NCAA Elite Eight team, wraps up the Huskies' 12-game regular-season non-conference schedule.

JR G Katie Appleton scored a career-high 29 points in a 78-72 overtime victory over San Jose State on Sunday ... She shot 11-of-20 from the field, including a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left that ultimately sent the game into overtime ... Her 29 points marked her third 20-point output in the last four games ... Appleton was a perfect 4-of-4 from the 3-point line and added four steals ... She ranks fifth in the Pac-10 in scoring with a 14.8 ppg average, while also pacing the league with a 2.78 steals average ... Washington State has two non-conference games this week, including a Tues., Dec. 18 game at Montana, followed by a Fri., Dec. 21 matchup at Long Beach State ... The two games mark the first of four-straight road games for the Cougars ... WSU opens Pac-10 play with arguably the toughest road trip, facing Top-12 teams Stanford and California.
