FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -Marcus King-Stockton hit a layup with 31.3 seconds remaining and Richard Roby finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, helping Colorado to a 73-70 win over Colorado State on Saturday night.
It was the Buffaloes' first win at Moby Arena in four years. Colorado's victory also snapped the Rams' 24-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents.
Colorado, who had been idle the last 10 days, led by as many as 12 points in the first half.
However, the Rams rallied back to take a 70-68 lead with just over a minute left on Willis Gardner's 3-pointer.
Cory Higgins hit one of two free throws, and then King-Stockton followed with a layup to give the Buffaloes (6-5) a 71-70 lead.
After Colorado State missed a shot, Marcus Hall was fouled and hit both free throws with 11.5 seconds left to extend Colorado's lead to three points.
Gardner's off-balance 3-point attempt with the clock winding down fell short, and the Rams lost their fourth straight game.
Colorado State (5-7) was led in scoring by Marcus Walker, who finished with 17 points. Stuart Creason added 14 and Gardner had 13.
Xavier Silas had 16 points for Colorado, including four 3-pointers. Higgins finished with 13 points, and had a season-best seven assists. Roby finished with his seventh career double-double and second straight this season. He finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds, Dec. 12 against New Orleans.
Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik is now 5-0 lifetime against the Rams (3-0 at Moby Arena), with four of the wins coming as head coach at Air Force.
The Buffs will return home for three consecutive home games, first taking on Grambling State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29. On Jan. 4 at 8 p.m., CU will host SMU; and on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. the Buffs will face off against Tulsa.
