Jon Brockman Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - University of Washington junior Jon Brockman, who averaged 22.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in two wins last week, was named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 17-23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.

Brockman, a junior from Snohomish (Wash.) High School, registered two double-doubles while shooting 76 percent from the field last week to lead Washington to a pair of home victories.

The 6-foot-7 forward converted 11-of-13 shots from the field in an 84-65 win over Portland State on Dec. 18. He led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Brockman supplied a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists, leading the Huskies to an 80-66 victory over Cal State Northridge on Dec. 22.

Brockman, who led all Pac-10 players last season in rebounding and double-doubles, is averaging a double-double with 10.9 rebounds and 18.9 points per game. He collected his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season and now has 24 for his career. He has six 20-point performances this season.

This is the third time Brockman has received the Pac-10's weekly award, his second this season. He earned the conference honor on Nov. 20. Brockman was also recognized on Feb. 12, 2007.

Brockman garnered the 31st Player of the Week recognition for a Husky.
