Dec. 28, 2007

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Maarty Leunen scored a career-high 26 points and had 12 rebounds to lift Oregon to an 81-73 victory over Mount St. Mary's at McArthur Court on Friday.

Malik Hairston added 23 points and reserve forward Frantz Dorsainvil had 10 points for the Ducks (9-3), who shot a season-high 63.3 percent.

Will Holland had 22 points, Chris Vann had 20 and Jeremy Goode added 11 assists for the Mountainers (6-6).

The Mountaineers opened the second half with a 7-1 run to tie the score at 42-42. Jean Cajou's layup with 14:13 left gave the Mountaineers a 50-48 lead.

Oregon answered with a 21-4 run to take a 69-54 lead after a Hairston dunk with 5:15 left.

Goode scored five straight points to led another surge for the Mountainers, who twice pulled within six points in the final minute, the last time at 79-73 after a pair of Kelly Beidler free throws with 27 seconds left.

The game marked the first time since December 2006 that Oregon hasn't been ranked in the Associated Press poll.

The Ducks had been ranked for a school-record 21 consecutive weeks, but they lost their last two games on the road to Nebraska and little-known Oakland of Detroit.

Leunen had 15 first-half points as the Ducks led 41-36 at halftime. Oregon trailed by four points early, but shot 69.6 percent (16-for-23) in the opening half.

Oregon committed a season-high 20 turnovers.
