WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- CALIFORNIA junior forward/center Devanei Hampton has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 31-Jan. 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Hampton, a native of Oakland, Calif., averaged 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in leading the Golden Bears to their first road sweep of USC and UCLA since the 2000-01 season.

Hampton, who returned to the California lineup Friday against USC having missed nine games this season, as she battled a knee injury, led the Bears with season highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the year and the 18th of her career. She registered eight straight points in the second half to give the Bears a lead they would never relinquish in the 57-52 triumph over the Women of Troy.

In California's tight 73-70 victory over UCLA, Hampton posted 16 points and eight rebounds as well as a key steal late in the game that would seal the win for the Bears. Hampton stole the ball and handed it to Natasha Vital who would drain two free throws to cap the Bears' fourth Pac-10 victory.
