Former Husky Daniel Chu Wins Nordstom Open

Jan. 13, 2008

SEATTLE - Former Husky standout Daniel Chu showed his skills have in no way diminished since his collegiate career ended in 2007, as he defeated a pair of current Huskies to win the Nordstrom Open today.

Chu defeated current Husky freshman Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the semis and then stopped former teammate Andy Kuharszky, 6-3, 6-4, in the final. Kuharszky had reached the final with a straight-set win over UW junior Patrik Fischer.

The tournament was open to all entrants and not associated with the ITA, therefore all matches by Washington players will not count towards their season records.

Washington's first official match will be Thursday, Jan. 24 vs. Gonzaga at 1:30 p.m.
