ARIZONA STATE takes a Top 25 ranking and a nine-game winning streak on the road to the Bay Area. UCLA has a nine-game winning streak of its own and will put that on the line Saturday against rival USC... While WASHINGTON STATE falls from the ranks of the unbeaten with its loss at UCLA, the Cougars return home this week to a home court winning streak that has reached 12. They've won 23 of their last 25 at Friel Court... Less than 10 days after USC's O.J. Mayo tossed in 34 points, ARIZONA's Jerryd Bayless scored 33 points at Houston. Both are among the Pac-10's top ten scoring performances by a Pac-10 freshman since 1972-73 (top ten list on page 4)... This week's Top 25 polls include UCLA (No. 4 AP/No. 4 ESPN/USA Today), Washington State (No. 8/No. 8), and Arizona State (22/25).

Pac-10 Notes

• Freshman G Jerryd Bayless returned from a four-game absence to pour in a career-high 33 points at Houston. He hit a school-record 18 free throws in a school-record tying 20 attempts. Arizona was 1-3 in his absence as he recovered from a sprained right knee.
• Missing Bayless? Saturday at Houston, Arizona scored 85 points - UA's second-highest total this season - and shot 60.9 percent (28-of-46) from the field. In the four games he missed due to injury, the Wildcats averaged 68 points and shot 46.1 percent (101-of-219) from the field.
• Sophomore F Chase Budinger posted his first double-double of the season with 17 points/12 rebounds vs. Houston.

• Freshman G James Harden scored a career-high 26 points as ASU snapped a 12 game losing streak to Arizona. He's scored 20 or more points eight times, including each of the last four games.
• The Sun Devils have won nine straight. The last time ASU won 10 in a row was during the 1980-81 season when it ran off 11 consecutive victories.
• Over the last four games, the Sun Devil defense is allowing the opposition to shoot just 38.8 percent from the field (83-of-214).
• ASU is 11-0 at home after going 7-11 (.389) last year at Ned Wulk Court.

• Over the last 10 games, sophomore F Ryan Anderson has hit 27-of-51 (.529) from three-point range. He's hit two or more three-pointers in nine of the last 10 games.
• Anderson has connected on 34 of his last 36 free throw attempts (.944), which has elevated his free throw percentage to a Pac-10 leading 85.5 percent for the season.
• More Anderson... he grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and 17 points at Oregon State for his seventh double-double of the season.
• Sophomore G Patrick Christopher has scored 254 points (16.9 ppg) this season. He posted 173 points (5.2 ppg) all of last season. The 11.7 ppg increase is the best in the Pac-10.

• The Ducks did a good job of taking care of the ball at home last weekend as they committed just 15 turnovers (7.5 per game) against the Bay Area schools. In the previous five games, Oregon committed 80 turnovers (16.0 per game).
• Senior F Maarty Leunen joined the 1,000-point club last weekend, joining teammates seniors Malik Hairston and Bryce Taylor. Hairston needs 77 points to break into Oregon's top ten career scoring list.
• The Ducks are 10-3 against AP Top 25 teams over the last two years, including 3-0 this season.

• Oregon State committed only nine turnovers to California's 16 in the loss to the Bears. It marked the third time in the last four games the Beavers have committed 10 or less turnovers.
• The Beavers grabbed 20 offensive boards in the loss to Cal. OSU ranks second in the league in rebounds, averaging 38.0 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore G Josh Tarver posted a career-high five steals against Cal. He leads the Beavers with 20 thefts on the season.

• Sophomore F Brook Lopez averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the recent road trip to the Oregon schools. He shot 14-of-23 (.609) from the field in the two games. He tied a career-high with 26 points on 10-of-16 (.625) shooting at Oregon.
• At 16.7 ppg, Lopez would rank 10th in the league in scoring, but has yet to play in enough games to qualify for the statistical rankings.
• The Cardinal lead the league in rebounding (39.7 rpg), thanks in part to Lopez (7.6 rpg), sophomore C Robin Lopez (6.3 rpg), and junior F Lawrence Hill (5.8 rpg).

• Through the first six games of the season, the Bruins were shooting 64.9 percent (98-of-151) from the free throw line. Over the last 11 games, the Bruins are shooting 78.3 percent (162-of-207) from the charity stripe. They've hit 80 percent or better in eight of the last 11 games. Freshman C Kevin Love is shooting 56-of-67 (.836) from the line over the last 11 games.
• Over the last four games, sophomore G Russell Westbrook is averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and shooting 23-of-36 (.639) from the field.
• UCLA has won five of the last six meetings with USC, including the last three in Pauley Pavilion.

• Sophomore G Dwight Lewis averaged 16.5 points in a home split with the Washington schools. He shot 14-of-22 (.636) from the field.
• Sophomore F Taj Gibson is shooting 31-of-43 (.721) from the field over the last six games.
• In the first 16 games, USC's freshmen scored 559 of the 1089 points (51.3 percent) and the freshman and sophomores accounted for 1047 of the 1089 points (96.1 percent). The 96.1 percent of the team's scoring coming from underclassmen is the highest in the country.

• Junior F Jon Brockman has collected a double-double in six of the last seven games. During the last seven games, he's averaging 18.1 points and 11.4 rebounds. He posted a double-double in 17 of his last 28 games.
• In 10 games in Bank of America Arena, Washington is averaging 77.6 points per game. In six games away from home, the Huskies are averaging 66.3 points per game.
• In their last nine games since the defensive re-emphasis that followed a 96-71 loss at Oklahoma State (Dec. 1), the Huskies are surrendering an average of 63.9 points with no team scoring more than 75 points.

• Since returning from a thumb injury, junior F Daven Harmeling has hit 10-of-14 (.714) from three-point range over the last three games.
• In a combined 73 minutes of action against USC and UCLA, junior G Taylor Rochestie dished out 12 assists with just one turnover. He's second in the league, averaing 4.93 assists per game.
• The Cougars look to snap a 14-game losing streak to Oregon. It's currently the longest streak against by any Pac-10 opponent of another in league play.
• Senior G Derrick Low needs three points to reach 1,000 for his career. Low hit 6-of-9 from three-point range in the loss at UCLA.
