Women's Track & Field Opens Up Indoor Season At Illinois Invitational on Saturday

The UCLA women's track and field team will open up the indoor season on Saturday in Champaign, IL at the Illinois Invitational. The Bruins, ranked 14th in the pre-season poll, will face off with No. 11 Texas, No. 25 Illinois and Miami.
A large contingent of athletes will compete representing all event groups as the Bruins look to pick up NCAA qualifiers for Indoor Nationals. Highlighting the returning athletes are Nicole Leach and Ingrid Kantola. Leach will compete in the 200m and on relays, while Kantola will begin her quest for All-American honors in the pole vault. Last season, Kantola finished fourth at the National meet.
This weekend's competition also marks the debut of several heralded freshmen as Ke'Nyia Richardson (triple), Tori Anthony (pole vault), Lindsay Rowe (60m hurdles), Ashlea McLaughlin (sprints) and Shannon Murakami (800m/3000m) are all slated to compete.
