Indoor Track Opens Season with Strong Results

    Stanford Indoor Track opened their season Saturday with strong results at the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle, Wash. The Cardinal posted event winners and national provisional qualifying times in multiple events.

    On the men's side, Myles Bradley took first place in the 60 meter hurdles and in the process earned a national provisional qualifying mark of 7.90 seconds.

    Graeme Hoste was also an event winner as he took the pole vault competition with a national provisional vault of 5.21 meters. Benjamin Dickens followed up Hoste with a second place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 4.76 meters.

    In the distances Stanford was led by Chris Mocko who finished fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:19.38. Jacob Riley was 12th with a time of 8:30.09.

    Stanford also entered two teams in the distance medley relay. The Cardinal's 'A' team, comprised of Justin Marpole-Bird, Durrell Coleman, Justin Reed, and Tommy Gruenewald finished second with a time of 9:53.06. They were just ahead of their teammates, the Stanford 'B' team, which finished third with a time of 9:53.06.

    Also faring well for the men was Ryan Fisicaro who finished fifth in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.03.

    On the women's side, Shataya Hendricks got her season off to a good start by winning the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.57. Hendricks, the defending national champion in the triple jump and an All-American in the long jump did not compete in the jumps.

    Stanford showed their depth in the long jump however as Brittni Dixon-Smith and Lauren Stewart tied for first place by both jumping 5.71 meters.

    In the distances, Stanford entered three teams in the distance medley, sweeping the top three spots. The Stanford 'A' team, comprised of Arianna Lambie, Idara Otu, Madeline Duhon, and Katie Harrington won the race with a time of 11:34.22.

    Stanford will be back on the track next Saturday, January 26 when they travel to Boise Idaho to compete in the Blue & Orange Classic.
