Doubles Team Of Kelly And Muller Advance To Finals Of Sherwood Cup

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Stanford finished out the third day of the Sherwood Cup today on a high note, highlighted by the third-seeded doubles duo of Ted Kelly and Blake Muller, who advanced to tomorrow's final. The Cardinal were also very successful in singles consolation action, winning five of eight matches.
Kelly and Muller dispatched USC's Jason McNaughton and Jack Levis in the doubles quarterfinal 8-6, then went on to defeat No.2 seed David Galic and Lars Poerschke of Baylor, 9-8 in the semifinal. The pair will face No. 4 seed Attila Bucko and Denes Lukacs, also from Baylor, in the final at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
In singles consolation action, the Cardinal came out with a winning record of 5-3 on the day. Stanford went undefeated against opponents from USC, with Richard Wire, Blake Muller, and Phil Kao all winning their singles matches against their Trojan opponents.
The Cardinal will close out the tournament tomorrow on the fourth and final day of play.
