SCHEDULED TO COMPETE AT HUSKER INVITE: Teams from Drake, Baylor, Minnesota (men), UTEP, Arizona, Kansas State, South Dakota, Nebraska-Omaha (women), Nebraska-Kearney, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Illinois (men), Iowa State, Missouri Southern, Florida State, Central Florida, Washington State, University of Texas-Arlington are scheduled to compete in Lincoln this weekend...see for more meet information.

ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES: Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 35th season with the Cougar track program; 14th year as a head coach, 13th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...he is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell, and assistant coaches Jason Drake (Head Coach Cross Country), Mark Macdonald, Ellannee Richardson and Matt McGee...former WSU All-American heptathlete Diana Pickler is a volunteer assistant coach this season along with Bob Frey and Luan Weekes.

JUNGMARK READY TO MAKE MARKS FOR COUGARS: Swedish freshman high jumper Ebba Jungmark (pronounced eh-bah yoon-mark) will make her WSU debut at the Husker Invite this weekend...Jungmark competed in the 2007 World Championships at Osaka, Japan, where she finished 11th in high jump after clearing 6-2 (1.88m)...her lifetime-best mark is 6-3 1/2 (1.92m) achieved June 10, 2007, at Kil, Sweden.

AIR ARRIVEY ARRIVES: Sophomore high jumper Trent Arrivey (pronounced air-ah-vee) cleared a PR height of 7-0 1/4 (2.14m) to win the Cougar Indoor Meet Jan. 26...Arrivey, from Woodinville, Wash., became the 28th Cougar to high jump better than 7-feet...this height is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark

MISSOU AT WAZZU: Freshman Candace Missouri reached PRs in three events at the Cougar Indoor meet Jan. 26...Missouri, from Evergreen High in Vancouver, Wash., long jumped 18-10 (5.74m) and triple jumped 38-9 3/4 (11.83m), taking second in both events...she also ran a time of 7.89 seconds in the 60m dash.

GARBERG AND MacARTHUR THROW-UP PRS: Senior thrower McKenzie Garberg took second place in the women's 20-pound weight throw at the Cougar Indoor with a lifetime-best throw of 53-9 1/4 (16.39m), which is also the fifth-best throw in school history...Garberg, from Benton City, Wash., is a 2007 All-American discus the same meet, junior Phil MacArthur (Selkirk, Wash.) took second place in the men's weight throw with a PR toss of 57-8 1/2 (17.59m).

MULTIS-TASKING: Rickey Moody won the men's heptathlon at the Cougar Indoor Meet with a PR 5,216 points, just below the 5300 points needed for NCAA provisional qualifying...Moody, a senior from Puyallup, Wash., had a PR in the long jump by leaping 23-8 3/4 (7.23m)...Kyle Schauble, sophomore from Kennewick, Wash., reached a hept PR to 5,032 points...freshman Trevor Habberstad (Santa Clarita, Calif.) made his collegiate multi debut with 4,611 points.

BIG ROB REACHES PR: Robert Williams, junior from Riverside, Calif., won the men's 60m hurdles at the Cougar Indoor with a lifetime-best time of 8.07 seconds...Williams opened the season with a time of 8.09 at the WSU Open...freshman Jeshua Anderson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) set the freshman school record of 8.09 Jan. 19.

HOP, SKIP AND JUMPING PR: Junior Moreno Zapata (Tacoma, Wash.) won the men's triple jump at the Cougar Indoor with a PR leap of 49-3 1/2 (15.02m)...he is the lone Cougar men's team triple jumper.

COUGAR INDOOR HIGHTLIGHTS: WSU men claiming wins included Justin Woods in the 60m (6.84), Luke Lemenager in the 800m (1:55.50), and Matt Lamb in the shot put (54-7 1/2, 16.65m)...DJ Brown reached a PR in the pole vault with his second-place clearance at 15-5 (4.70m)...WSU women winners Saturday included Collier Lawrence in the 3000m (10:13.31), McKinnon Hanson in the high jump (5-6, 1.68m), and Sarah Burns in the triple jump (39-8, 12.09m)...Princess Joy Griffey was the top collegian in the 60m dash (7.54).

NATIONAL POLLS: The Trackwire Top 25 Poll and the Trackwire Dandy Dozen rankings have ceased to exist as of Jan. 2, 2008, according to an announcement on the internet site...the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) will begin indoor team rankings January 30.

THE COUGARS' HOME INDOOR FACILITY: The WSU Indoor Facility has a Mondo track with an eight-lane 60m straightaway, throwers' cage, long/triple jump pit, pole vault and high jump inside a six-lane 200m oval.
