Trojans Set Facility Record but Fall to UC Berkley

The No. 21 USC women's swimming team set a McDonald's Stadium pool record in the 400 Medley Relay Friday (Feb. 1) with a time of 3:40.16, but fell to Northern California rival, UC Berkeley.No. 5 California improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-10. USC dropped to 4-4, 1-4.Two-time defending NCAA champion in the 200y breast, USC junior Rebecca Soni took first in both the 100y (1:01.81) and 200y (2:14.37) breast, and USC junior Katy Houston took second (1:03.40 and 2:18.95).

USC senior Britney Allen had her personal best time of the season in the 1000y free (10:03.90).

Another USC senior Emily Goetsch took third in 200y fly (2:02.45), a `B' cut.

The final score was 202 to 98.

The USC Women of Troy face Stanford tomorrow at McDonald's Stadium.
