HILO, Hawaii - Washington sophomore Nick Taylor equaled his career-best 18-hole score carding a 3-under 67 during the first round of the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village Course, Wednesday.

Taylor is tied for eighth after the opening round, leading a Husky squad that is ninth after 18 holes. As a team, the Huskies shot even-par 280. UW is one stroke behind Oregon (1-under 279) and three strokes behind seventh-place Oklahoma (3-under 277).

Arizona State and Texas Tech share the team lead at 9-under 271, while Oregon State is in third place at 7-under 273.

The Huskies had two players record scores under par, as senior Zach Bixler carded a 1-under 69. Bixler is tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard.Rounding out the Husky lineup are sophomore Darren Wallace (t-36th, 1-over 71), freshman Tze Huang Choo (t-65th, 3-over 73), and junior John Wise (t-89th, 7-over 77).

The UH-Hilo Intercollegiate continues with the second round on Thursday and the final round on Friday. Tee times are set for 9 a.m. PT (7 a.m. HT).
