DeLeo Highlights Men's Track & Field Competitors On Friday

Dustin DeLeo highlighted the men's track and field team on Friday as the junior cleared a lifetime-best and NCAA provisional mark of 17-1 to win the college section of the pole vault at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR. DeLeo had a previous lifetime-best of 16-7.50 and he was the only event winner for the Bruins on Friday.
Also in Arkansas, junior Laef Barnes finished eighth in the Olympic Development section of the mile (4:05.43). In the Olympic Development section of the 800m, freshman Cory Primm finished 11th in a time of 1:50.92.
In the college section of the mile, sophomore Marlon Patterson placed seventh (4:12.86) and senior Mike Haddan was 18th (4:16.45). Freshman Taylor Hobson finished 15th in the college section of the long jump with a mark of 22-6.50. Freshman Bryson Banks and senior Joel Tuosto fouled out.
At the Iowa State Classic, freshman Bo Taylor finished 19th in the weight throw with a toss of 56-11.50. Junior Boldizsar Kocsor, who currently ranks in the top-10 in the country, was pulled from the meet to rest a sore back.
Competition continues on Saturday in Iowa with the Bruins competing in the shot put and sprint events. In Arkansas, field events and distance races are on tap for UCLA.
