Tempe, Ariz. - The California Golden Bears remained undefeated at the Kajikawa Classic after posting a 12-4 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a game that lasted two hours and 55 minutes on Saturday night.
Cal (6-4 overall this season) got a huge offensive game from freshman Sanoe Kekahuna, who went 2-for-3, including a grand slam in the fifth inning and seven RBI. Vernae Sevilla and Julie Meyer both had two RBI as well for Cal. Meyer belted her first home run of the 2008 season (a solo shot) in the top of the fourth inning.
Cal has won four straight games and concludes tournament play on Sunday versus Notre Dame. Kekahuna meanwhile has tallied five home runs and 16 RBI this season.
Marissa Drewrey earned win No. 4 in the circle after striking out seven over 5.2 innings of work.
The Bears put up a three spot in the first inning and got a big two-run double from Kekahuna that scored both Bernice Masaniai and Erika Racklin. After Meyer's solo home run in the fourth, Cal tacked on five runs in the fifth, thanks to the Kekahuna grand slam and a Sevilla RBI single that plated Gina Leomiti.
