Feb. 28, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University Athletics Department has retained the services of Alden & Associates to assist in the identification and recruitment of qualified candidates for the women's volleyball head coaching position, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk said Thursday.

Headed by Dr. Elizabeth 'Betsy' Alden, a former athletics director, the Amherst, Mass., firm specializes in athletics searches, and consults nationwide on a variety of athletics issues.

'We're delighted to be working with Alden & Associates again,' Sterk said. 'Betsy Alden and her team assisted WSU with the search for our women's basketball head coaching position last year and resulted in our hiring of June Daugherty. The firm has a wealth of experience in athletic personnel searches for prominent institutions. We are confident we will be provided with a pool of superior candidates.'

Alden said her firm has already begun the process of helping WSU find the best possible candidates for the Cougars volleyball head coaching position. All applications will be directed to Alden & Associates.

'We plan to be interviewing finalists in a timely manner but have not set a specific hiring deadline date,' Sterk said.
