Cal's Thomas Henninger Places Sixth in Pac-10 One-Meter Competition

FEDERAL WAY, WASH. - California freshman Thomas Henninger finished sixth, and fellow freshman Taylor Dehn, seventh, in the one-meter competition Friday at the 2008 Pac-10 Conference Diving Championships, hosted at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Wash. Henninger, from Glenside, Pa., tallied a score of 307.45, while Dehn, who yesterday placed a team-best eighth on the three-meter board, had a mark of 299.0.
The two Golden Bear newcomers actually flip-flopped from the morning preliminary round. After the first round, Dehn was in fifth place with a score of 301.60, and Henninger was in sixth place with a mark of 299.60. Cal junior Brian Lawler was 11th after the prelims with a score of 267.65.
Dehn, who was a high school All-American at Mission Viejo High School, had scored a 295.40 in Thursday morning's the preliminary round to advance to the finals. Fellow Golden Bear freshman Thomas Henninger was ninth in the prelims with a mark of 289.95, while junior transfer Brian Lawler (Boston University) was 10th with a score of 271.60.
On Satday, Mar. 1, the men's platform preliminary begins at 12:45 p.m., and the platform finals will be held at 3:15 p.m.
