Four Women Vaulters Tie For Third At MPSF Championships

Feb. 29, 2008

The Bruin pole vaulters were the only athletes competing for the UCLA women's track and field team on day one of the MPSF Championships in Seattle, WA and they did not disappoint as four women cleared 13-1 to tie for third.

Ingrid Kantola, Tori Anthony, Katy Viuf and Megan Jamerson each achieved an NCAA provisional qualifier with their clearances of 13-1. It was a season-best jump for Kantola and Anthony, and a lifetime-best vault for Jamerson. Viuf has a better mark of 13-1.75 which she jumped earlier in the season.

Tori Anthony tied for 11th with a vault of 12-7.25, while Elizabeth Woepse cleared 12-1.25 to tie for 16th. Aubree Stark finished in a tie for 22nd with her vault of 11-7.25.

Arizona State leads the meet after five scored events with 78 points. Stanford is second with 64 points and Oregon is third with 31. The Bruins are in ninth with 9.50 points, but only have vaulters and distance runners competing so they are not in a hunt for the team title.
