Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Senior Anjelica Selden had double figures in strikeouts for the fourth straight game, fanning 13 and tossing a one-hitter, and got the only offense she needed on an RBI single by sophomore Julie Burney in the fifth, as the second-ranked Bruins defeated UNLV 1-0 on Wednesday at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improve to 20-2 with their 14th straight victory, while the Rebels falls to 13-9-1.

With 13 more strikeouts, Selden (10-1) is averaging a little more than two per inning over her last five games (57 strikeouts/28 innings). The senior fanned the side in the first and the seventh, with the only base runner being Rosa Ordaz, who had a two-out single in the fourth inning.

The game was a pitcher's duel between Selden and Stephanie Bregante, who gave up four hits, one run and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings. The Bruins got runners on in the first and the third before breaking the scoreless tie with a run in the fifth.

Freshman Samantha Camuso led off with a double off the center-field wall, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by junior Jennifer Schroeder and scored on a single to left by Burney.

Freshmen GiOnna DiSalvatore and Katie Schroeder also had singles for the Bruins, while freshman Lauren Mirabal swiped her team-leading seventh base of the season.

The Bruins finish up regular-season tournament play this weekend when they travel down the 405 to the Long Beach State Invitational at Mayfair Park in Lakewood.
