Jason Dunford Named Pac-10 Swimmer Of The Month

March 5, 2008

Stanford men's swimmer Jason Dunford has been named Pac-10 Men's Swimmer of the Month for February, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Dunford, a junior from Nairobi, Kenya, won every event he swam in during the month of February. Dunford led the Cardinal to a 3-0 dual meet record for the month with wins over Cal State Bakersfield, USC, and California. Against CSUB, Dunford swam the 50 free with a time of 20.34. He also swam the 50 free versus the Golden Bears and improved his time to 19.98. Against USC, Dunford swam the fourth leg of the 400 medley relay (3:15.74) with a 45.15 split. In addition, he had a time of 43.65 in the 100 free.

This is the first monthly honor for Dunford and Stanford's fifth men's Swimmer of the Month honor all-time.

Stanford begins the Pac-10 Championships today, March 5, at the Belmont Plaza Olympic in Long Beach, Calif. Dunford will look to help the Cardinal extend their streak of 26 consecutive Pac-10 Championships, a conference record in any sport.
