USC's 200y medley relay finished fourth and its 800y free relay was sixth, leaving the Trojans fifth overall after a first day consisting of a pair of relays kicked off the 2008 Pac-10 Men's Swimming Championships at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif.

Troy's 200y medley relay quartet of freshman Jake Grosser, junior Kevin Bartell and seniors Bryce Elser and Richard Gosper finished fourth in 1:28.91, an NCAA consideration qualifying time.

Later, its 800y free relay foursome of sophomore Zoltan Povazsay, freshman Luke Tanner, Elser and junior Vanni Mangoni took sixth in 6:33.17.

USC is fifth overall (56). Arizona leads (74) and is followed by Cal (72), Stanford (66), ASU (58), USC and Washington (28).
