Bruin Basketball Players Honored By Pac-10 Conference

Senior forward Lindsey Pluimer (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente HS) has been chosen by the league's coaches as a first-team selection to the All-Pac-10 Conference Team. In addition, freshman guard Doreena Campbell (Alexandria, Va./Edison HS) earned first-team Pac-10 All-Freshman honors, and junior guard Tierra Henderson (Pasadena, Calif./Muir HS) was picked for the inaugural Pac-10 Defensive Team.

Pluimer, one of five players selected to the first team, averages a team-high 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds to rank in the Top 10 in the Pac-10 in both categories. Pluimer ranks amongst the Pac-10 leaders in six of 13 individual categories. A starter in every game since her freshman year, Pluimer has made 121 consecutive starts and ranks in the Top 12 in the UCLA record books for career points (12th - 1,539), rebounds (10th - 725), blocked shots (sixth - 92), 3-point field goals made (seventh - 83) and double figure scoring games (tied for fifth - 89). She is one of just five UCLA players ever to total at least 1,300 points, 650 rebounds and 75 blocked shots. A standout in the classroom as well, Pluimer was a first-team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District selection and a nominee for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. She will graduate with honors this year with a degree in Communication Studies. Last season, Pluimer earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors.

In addition to her All-Freshman acclaim, Campbell was named to the honorable mention All-Pac-10 team. Campbell has had an outstanding freshman season, starting 28 games and averaging 8.6 points, 3.43 assists (eighth in the Pac-10) and 4.4 rebounds (19th) while holding a 1.60 assist-to-turnover ratio (sixth). She has scored in double figures 12 times this season, twice leading the team in scoring. Her 96 assists on the year rank her seventh on UCLA's all-time freshman list.

Henderson was one of five players selected to the inaugural Pac-10 Defensive Team. Long regarded as a defensive whiz, Henderson ranks fourth in the Pac-10 in steals with 1.97 per game. She had a career-high tying seven at Arizona and has had three or more steals 11 times this year. She has also been a force offensively, averaging 7.8 points with seven double-figure games on the year, including a career-best 16-point effort against Oregon State.

Freshmen Nina Earl, Darxia Morris and Regina Rogers were awarded honorable mention Pac-10 All-Freshman honors. Earl and Morris additionally were named to the honorable mention Pac-10 Defensive Team. Earl, a forward from Pomona, Calif. (Diamond Ranch HS), ranks second on the Bruin squad in scoring with a 9.0 average and scored in double figures 11 times this season. She set career-highs in both scoring and rebounding when she recorded her first career double-double at Arizona with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Morris, a guard from Pasadena, Calif. (Muir HS), ranks second on the UCLA team and ninth in the Pac-10 in steals with a 1.69 average. She is also second on the team in assists with 64 and fifth in scoring with a 7.3 average. She has two 20-point games on the year. Rogers, a center from Seattle, Wash. (Chief Sealth HS), average 6.4 points per game and ranks 17th in the Pac-10 and second on the team in rebounding (4.7 average). She had a 16-rebound game at Pepperdine and a 13-rebound effort at Arizona State.

Arizona State's Briann January prevented a Stanford sweep of the awards by being selected the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. Stanford's Candice Wiggins was named the Player of the Year, Kayla Pedersen the Freshman of the Year and Tara VanDerveer the Coach of the Year.
