Pluimer Named Toyo Tires Pac-10 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Of The Year

UCLA senior forward Lindsey Pluimer has been named the Toyo Tires Pac-10 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Pluimer, a senior from San Clemente Calif., has been one of the Conference's consistent forces, starting a tremendous 121 straight games for the Bruins. She currently sits fifth in the Pac-10 in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game this season, and ranks second among active Conference players with 1,549 career points.
Pluimer has also been a force on the boards throughout her career, also ranking second among active players with 725 career rebounds. A two-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection, Pluimer was recently also selected as a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for the 2007-08 season. Majoring in Communication Studies, one of the most difficult majors to be accepted into at UCLA, Pluimer will graduate either Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude this year.
A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award will be given to one student athlete in each of the Pac-10's 22 sponsored sports. Eligible student-athletes include seniors on track to receive a degree with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher who have been at their institution for more than a year and participate in at least 50% of the scheduled contests in their particular sport.
As one of the Toyo Tires Pac-10 Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Pluimer will receive a commemorative award and the Toyo Tires Corporation will donate $1,000 to the scholarship fund of UCLA's athletic department.
