UCLA Rowing Opens Season Saturday Against Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's rowing team opens its 2008 spring season versus Loyola Marymount this Saturday, March 8, in Marina del Rey, Calif. The Bruins will race three varsity eight crews and one freshman eight.
Saturday's season-opening race will take place at Ballona Creek - the facility in Marina del Rey, Calif., serves as a home venue for both UCLA's and Loyola Marymount's rowing programs. UCLA's first race this Saturday will begin at 8:45 a.m. (women's novice 8+). The women's varsity 8+ race will begin at 9:45 a.m. The women's rowing program will hold their boat christenings at 10:15.
Last spring, each of UCLA's six boats raced past the Lions in the first regatta of the spring. The Bruins' varsity eight crew posted a time of 7 minutes, 15.30 seconds.
