Aloha from Waikiki! This week we are in beautiful Hawaii. After arriving last night, we played one game against the Netherlands National Team and then had the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the sunshine and beach. We are lucky to be staying at a hotel that is just across the street from the ocean. This morning at breakfast we were able to eat our food and have a great view of the water and palm trees. Some players even spotted a few dolphins.
Our game earlier today was a bit disappointing; we lost to the Netherlands despite having a strong offensive day at the plate. But we still have up to six games to play this weekend so winning the tournament is still our goal for the weekend.
After the game the team had some free time to enjoy Waikiki. Coach Tarr allotted us 20 minutes of swim time which we took full advantage of. Other activities included burying people in the sand, lying in the sun, shopping, and trying some Hawaiian foods. Overall it was a very fun day and we are happy to be playing in such a warm and fun place. It turns out there are a lot of Husky fans in Hawaii, multiple alumni said hello while we were out walking around which is always cool.
These next few days we will likely play two games a day. We have not played any of the teams that our in this tournament which includes Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Idaho State, and Hawaii. After coming off last weekend's exciting win against #1 ranked Alabama, we look forward to trying to continue to improve and strengthen our record. Thank you to everyone who came to the home tournament last weekend, you guys were loud and it makes playing at home awesome. Catch us on game tracker or listen to us on gohuskies.com if you get a chance.
