Washington Wins Beam and Scores a Season-High 195.175 in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, La. - The Huskies continued to hit their mark during competition, as the GymDawgs finished the night with a season-high score in a 196.550-195.175 loss to fifth-ranked Louisiana State at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Washington picked up a team win over Tigers on beam, 48.750-48.400, as four different Huskies placed in the top-three on the individual events.

UW has stepped up in each of their meetings against the nation's top teams. Although the Huskies fell to 1-10 tonight, all of Washington's losses were from top-25 teams, including four from top-10 opponents. Although the squad has picked up losses, four of its top-five scores came against top-10 teams, including tonight's season-high 195.175.

The Huskies picked up a team victory on beam, outscoring the Tigers 48.750-48.400, as freshmen Samantha Walior (Prior Lake, Minn.) and Haley Bogart (Woodside, Calif.) tied for third place with a 9.8.

Washington also earned top performances from junior Ashley Houghting (Welland, Ont.), who took second on vault with a 9.95 and senior Nikki Waiss (Mill Creek, Wash.), who placed second on bars with a season-high 9.875.

Next week, the Huskies will host Seattle Pacific in the final regular season home meet. The Huskies and the Falcons will face off at 7 p.m. in Bank of America Arena on Friday, March 14.
