Golden Bears Take On Penn Tomorrow At Hellman

BERKELEY - The California men's tennis team (5-5) hosts Pennsylvania (7-3) in a midweek match tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. on the courts of the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears are coming off a weekend split on the road at Arizona State and Arizona, falling to the Sun Devils in a 4-3 loss before bouncing back to get a 4-3 win over the Wildcats. Cal sophomore Kallim Stewart is ranked No. 96 in the latest ITA poll while the Penn duo of seniors Jason Pinsky and Joseph Lok entered the rankings at No. 57 amongst doubles teams.
The Quakers play in the Ivy League but are out west this week facing St. Mary's (March 10) and USF (March 13) in addition to their bout with the Bears. Penn started the season 7-1 before dropping its last two matches, each 5-2 to Maryland and Louisville on the road. The Quakers come in under the direction of first-year head coach Nik DeVore who looks to guide the team towards winning a third consecutive Ivy League title, having shared the honors the last two seasons.
The Bears will head down to Pebble Beach, Calif. this weekend to take on Southern Methodist (March 15, 10 a.m.) and USF (March 16, 1 p.m.). Please check CalBears.com for updates and scores.
