March 12, 2008

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's basketball Head Coach Tara VanDerveer will be joining KNBR 680's Bob Fitzgerald and Rod Brooks on the 'Fitz & Brooks' program Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. PT to chat about Stanford's recent Pac-10 Tournament title and its postseason plans.

VanDerveer also was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year for the ninth time after guiding Stanford to a 30-3 record, its 20th conference regular-season title, and fifth Pac-10 Tournament crown. The Cardinal's 30 wins so far this season marks the program's seventh 30-win year under VanDerveer, and the tournament title guarantees Stanford's 21st consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Over her 22 seasons as Stanford's head coach, VanDerveer has guided her players to a pair of Naismith Player of the Year honors, 13 Kodak first-team All-America honors, 12 Pac-10 Player of the Year awards, and 44 first-team All-Pac-10 selections. This season, she saw senior guard Candice Wiggins become the first three-time Pac-10 Player of the Year, freshman forward Kayla Pedersen named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, and had seven of her players earn nods to the various All-Pac-10 squads.

'Fitz & Brooks' airs on KNBR 680 every weekday afternoon from 12-3 p.m. PT.
