OSU's Roderfeld, California's Drewrey Named Pac-10 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - OREGON STATE freshman Audrey Roderfeld has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for March 11-17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Roderfeld, a Vista, Calif. native, had a powerful week posting a 1.154 slugging percentage behind two home runs, including her first career grand slam in the first game against Northern Illinois. She hit back-to-back shots against the Huskies, earning three RBI in the second game with her two-run homer and her pair of doubles, going a perfect 3-for-3.

She went 7-for-13, scoring six runs in the Beavers' perfect 5-0 week, including winning three games in one day for the first time in school history.

She extends her hitting streak to six games, her longest thus far on the season, while posting a .571 on-base percentage on a .538 batting average.

The Beavers (18-13) have a little light travel sprinkled around a homestand as they participate in the Spring Fling in Portland, Ore. as well as Corvallis, March 21-23.

This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Roderfeld and the 33rd all-time for the Beavers.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA sophomore Marissa Drewrey has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 11-17, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Drewrey, a Oakdale, Calif. native, returned from an injury that sidelined her for a little over a week and had a career weekend at the Capital Classic. The 6-3 sophomore product compiled a 4-0 record with a 0.72 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 29 innings of work, including two shutout wins over nationally-ranked Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Against the Sooners, she tossed a three-hit shutout over seven innings and against Ohio State, she allowed just three hits after the second inning (seven total for the game). In the final day of the tournament, Drewrey recorded a career-high 16 strikeouts against Nevada, lifting the Bears to its third Capital Classic title in school history.

Drewrey improves to 13-4 on the season with a 1.57 earned run average. She also has 150 strikeouts on the year and has recorded three shutouts.

Thanks to those wins over Ohio State and Oklahoma at the Capital Classic, California made its debut in the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 poll, at No. 25, this week. Cal has won a season-high seven straight games and 17 of its last 19 since Feb. 23.

The Bears (25-9) will be competing at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational Tournament, March 19-22.

This is Drewrey's first career Pitcher of the Week honor and the 61st all-time for California.
