Nationally-Ranked Kwon Signs with Cal for 2008-09

BERKELEY, Calif. - Diane Kwon, who has previously been ranked among the top 10 juniors according to Golfweek, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for California beginning with the 2008-09 season.
'We are very happy to have another top Northern California player join the Golden Bear family,' said Cal head coach Nancy McDaniel. 'Diane is a complete player who boasts ample experience and is very consistent. She is committed to both athletics and academics at a high level. She is a great fit for Cal. Diane wanted to compete for a top program close to home.'
Kwon is currently ranked No. 23 according to the American Junior Golf Association and No. 24 in the Golfweek Girls Junior rankings.
Kwon has played a full schedule of American Junior Golf Association events. Overall, she placed in the top seven four times in 2007 and in the top 25 six times. Her best showing was a tie for fourth at the Wellstone Communities Junior at Craig Ranch last April.
In July 2006, Kwon won her first AJGA event - the Bob Estes Abilene Junior Open - by three shots at two-over 218. Also in 2006, she won the women's division of the San Francisco City Golf Championships.
Kwon competes for the boys' team at John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, Calif. She was a member of the second place JGANC NorCal team in 2007.
