No. 15 Cal Travels to Duck Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. - Coming off its second victory of the 2007-08 season, No. 15 California travels to the Duck Invitational Monday-Tuesday, March 24-25, at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. The 15-team tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

The 14 teams will tee off each day beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start on the par-72, 6,052-yard course.

No. 15 California is the only team ranked in the top 30 of the latest Golfweek poll. The rest of the field consists of host Oregon, Washington State, Washington, Colorado, UC Davis, Oregon State, Idaho, Long Beach State, Minnesota, Montana, Portland State, Texas-San Antonio and Wyoming.

Cal has had a long break from competition since winning the Spartan Invitational March 4. The Bears claimed the 54-hole tournament by five shots, posting a score of 899 (+35). Host San Jose State was second at 904, and UC Irvine took third at 906.

Junior Allison Goodman and freshman Pia Halbig tied for second at 220 (+4) to lead Cal. Halbig also paced Cal at the Wildcat Invitational in February, tying for 20th at 225 (+12).

Halbig leads Cal with a 74.2 average, and Goodman is second at 74.7. Halbig is ranked 39th by Golfweek and Goodman is tabbed 49th.

Cal began the 2007-08 season with a team victory at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in September. Overall, Cal has won 18 team titles since the Bears' inaugural 1995-96 season.
