Stanford In 13th Place After Day One Of The U.S. Collegiate Championship

March 24, 2008

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - The Stanford men's golf team finds themselves in 13th place after the first round of three at the United State Collegiate Championship at the The Golf Club of Georgia. The par-71 Lakeside course was affected by temperatures in the low 40's and gusty winds that made it seem like it was in the 30's.

Stanford shot a 22-over-par 310 and will look to improve upon that mark in the second round tomorrow. Currently, No. 3 UCLA is in first, No. 12 Florida State is in second, and No. 6 Oklahoma State is in third.

Individually, Stanford's best performers Steve Ziegler and Rob Grube are currently four-over par, shooting 76 and share 38th place with four other golfers.
