March 25, 2008

HONOLULU - The No. 8 UCLA women's tennis team rounded out the non-conference part of its season on the road on Tuesday, taking a 7-0 victory over Hawai'i at the UH Tennis Complex. The Bruins, winners of four in a row, improve to 13-4 on the season. The Rainbow Wahine remain winless on the year at 0-14.

Tuesday marked the return of Alex McGoodwin to the singles lineup. The senior, who had played singles in only two dual matches this year due to injury, looked impressive at the No. 6 spot, dropping just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Marie Tanaka.

With Riza Zalameda sitting out Tuesday's contest, senior Tracy Lin took over the No. 1 spot. She took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sophie Kobuch. Fellow senior Elizabeth Lumpkin was also victorious, as she didn't drop a single game at court No. 5, recording a 6-0, 6-0 win against Jennifer Goldman. Lumpkin, who has lost just one singles match in dual-match play this season, improved her record to 16-1.

UCLA continues Pac-10 play this Saturday, hosting Oregon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at Noon.
