No. 6 Stanford Named Top Seed in NCAA Central Region

Fresh off a Pac-10 Championship, No. 6 Stanford women's gymnastics has been named the top seed in the Central Region, where they will compete for a spot in the national championships in Athens, Ga, April 24-26, hosted by the University of Georgia. The NCAA Central Regional will take place on Saturday, Apr. 12 and will begin at 4:00 p.m PST.

The Cardinal will be joined in the regional by host LSU, Missouri, Kentucky, Kent State and Ohio State in Baton Rouge, La. on the campus of Louisiana State University. The top two finishers of each regional will qualify for a spot in the national championships.

This is Stanford's ninth appearance in the NCAA Regional Championships and the Cardinal have made three appearances in the 'Super Six', most recently last season. They have also made appearances in 2002 and 2004.The Cardinal is coming off a Pac-10 Championship, which was their third title in the past five seasons. They own a 20-4 record on the season and are 3-1 in Pac-10 meets.

The qualifying teams and individuals are listed below. All regionals, except for the Southeast, will be conducted at 6 p.m. local time, Saturday, April 12. The Southeast regional is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern time, Saturday, April 12.
