WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA sophomore outfielder Gina Leomiti has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for March 25-31, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Leomiti, a San Diego, Calif native, belted three home runs including two versus nationally ranked Arizona and Arizona State as she began her Conference season at a blistering pace, hitting .750 (9-for-12) on the week and also stealing two bases.

Early in the week, Leomiti decimated a couple of the Golden Bears last non-conference opponents, going 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI against UC Riverside and Pacific.

Opening the Conference season against No. 1/2 Arizona State, Leomiti came out strong as she tagged 2007 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year Katie Burkhart for three hits, including a home run.
