Oman's Effort Highlights The Trojans' Results In First Two Days At The Texas Relays

Senior Lindsay Oman scored a career-best 5,025 points to place 10th in the women's heptathlon today (April 3) to lead the Trojans in the first two days of competition at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

Oman ran a PR of 2:17.12 in the 800m race, the final event, to place second in that event and finish 10th in the two-day competition. Her total improved her eighth-place standing on USC's all-time list. Oman's previous best had been 4,891 set in April last season.

Sophomore Shana Woods was bothered by an abdominal injury and did not compete in the 800m race. She was in eighth place before not starting in the final event.

Trojan hammer throwers redshirt juniors Brian Wilhelm (188-10) and Mike Curiel (167-0) finished 10th and 16th respectively in the men's hammer throw competition.

Redshirt junior Katie Kirst finished 31st in the women's 400m IH with a time of 1:03.94. Redshirt junior Sheldon Evans (53.97) and sophomore Sean Adams (55.15) placed 22nd and 38th respectively in the men's 400m IH.

Redshirt sophomore Derek Scott had another good day in the pole vault, clearing 17-0 3/4 (5.20m) to place fourth in the men's pole vault 'B section.'

The Trojans' 4x800m relay team of Irek Sekretarski, Nate Anderson, David Branch and Duane Solomon placed sixth with a time of 7:37.03.
