Thursday Notebook - 4/3/08
April 3, 2008
Two wins this weekend would give Head Coach John Rittman his 500th career win. Rittman is 498-229-3 (.684) for his career.
Two wins would match the team's win total from last year in just the second week of conference play.
Stanford has beat 12 opponents by eight or more runs this season. The team needs to run-rule just one more team to match the program record (13) reached in 2005 and 1999.
Stanford is 26-0 when the team scores first, and 16-0 when scoring in the first inning. The Cardinal has outhit opponents in 30 of 38 games, scored 5+ runs 22 times and only allowed one opponent more than five runs.
Missy Penna needs just one win to hit the 70th of her career. Just a junior, she would be just the third pitcher in school history to reach the mark.
Tricia Aggabao needs just one double to double her previous career double total this season alone. Stanford needs seven doubles to match its total from last year.
Rosey Neill needs just two more RBI to join the program's top-10 single-season RBI list. She enters the weekend with a team-high 44 on the year.
Michelle Smith needs just five assists to reach 400 for her career. The senior would join Cardinal greats Lauren Lappin, Michelle Schneider and Robin Walker as the only players to accomplish the feat.
With every walk, Maddy Coon is setting a new program record for single-season walks. She broke the previous record (33) last Saturday and now has 37 in 2008.
Rosey Neill continues her run towards a program record for single-season homeruns. Neill leads the Pac-10 in homeruns with 15, and is just four short of Michelle Smith's program record (19) set in 2005. Smith needs just two more to become the second player in school history to hit 40 homeruns in her career.
