Cal Football to Host Open Practice on Saturday, Apr. 12

April 4, 2008

BERKELEY - California football fans will have the opportunity to get a sneak-peek at the 2008 Golden Bears on Saturday, April 12th at Memorial Stadium as Peterson Tractor presents a free open practice - the only open-to-the-public practice of the spring season for Cal. The practice is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. as part of Cal Day - a full day of campus activities open to the general public.

In addition to the Golden Bears being in action, highlights include the first availability of the 2008 Official Gameday Football Shirt, free food for the first 500 fans (starting at 11 a.m.) and a surplus equipment sale which begins at 9 a.m. in the Prospect Avenue parking lot located on the south end of the stadium. The surplus sale will include official Cal clothing from Golden Bear varsity sports teams, official Cal jerseys, Nike shoes and duffel bags. A limited amount of football equipment, such as kicking nets and ball bags, will be also available.

Peterson Tractor is a Golden Bear corporate sponsor that agreed to a five-year corporate partnership extension with Cal Athletics and ISP Sports through 2012.

'Peterson Tractor has been an excellent partner with Cal,' Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour said. 'They are part of our team and help us provide the financial support needed to run a University intercollegiate athletics program at the championship level. We are proud that Peterson Tractor will continue its association with the Bears for the next five years.'

With the contract extension, Peterson became the exclusive equipment, engine and generator supplier of Cal Athletics.

'Peterson Tractor is honored to share a partnership with Cal Athletics, as their preferred heavy equipment supplier, representing Caterpillar,' said Shannon Thomas, Director of Marketing for Peterson Tractor. 'This alignment has already proven valuable, with increased visibility to our marketplace through the exposure of our north tunnel sign in Memorial Stadium. Combine this example, with the on-campus spirit and first class representation of ISP Sports, and you have the ingredients for a strong, long-lasting relationship. Go Bears!'

Peterson Tractor is part of Caterpillar's worldwide dealer network serving more than 30,000 square miles of Northern California with 10 stores located from Santa Clara County in the south to the Oregon border in the north. For more information on Peterson Tractor, call 888-PETERSON or visit
