The Bruins responded with a run in the bottom of the first on Crawford's RBI single and Carrithers tied the game in the third with a solo shot to right, his second home run in as many games.

The Bruins scored the go-ahead run in the fifth. Brent Dean led off with a double to left, moved to third on Niko Gallego's bunt single and scored on Carrithers' RBI sacrifice fly to center. UCLA added the insurance run in the eighth on pinch hitter Mickey Weisser's RBI single to right.
