Annual Spring Game Set For Saturday Evening

STANFORD, Calif.- The Stanford Cardinal will cap its 15-workout spring practice session with the annual Spring Game this Saturday night at Stanford Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Stanford coaches and players will split in half, with offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Dave Shaw heading up the White Team and assistant head coach/co-defensive coordinator Ron Lynn directing the Cardinal Team. Key players for the White Team include quarterback Tavita Pritchard, wide receiver Richard Sherman, defensive end Erik Korig, center Alex Fletcher, linebacker Clint Snyder, linebacker Pat Maynor, cornerback Kris Evans and Ronnie Lott Trophy candidate Bo McNally.
Heading up the Cardinal unit are running back Anthony Kimble, linebacker Chike Amajoyi, defensive end Pannel Egboh, offensive tackle Ben Muth, safety Austin Yancy, linebacker Will Powers and wide receiver Doug Baldwin. The quarterback for the Cardinal team will be determined at a later date.
The game will be conducted using a normal game clock, which maybe adjusted as the game progresses. Each team will be allotted three timeouts and there will be an overtime period if necessary. Quarterbacks will be 'live' outside the pocket and 'thud' inside the pocket.
Prior to the game, Stanford will host an Alumni Flag Football Game beginning at 1:00 pm in the stadium. Some former players expected to participate include Troy Walters, Chad Hutchinson and Luke Powell.
Stanford opens the 2008 regular season on August 28 against Oregon State at Stanford Stadium. Other home dates are scheduled against San Jose State (Sept. 20), Arizona (Oct. 11--Homecoming), Washington State (Nov. 1) and USC (Nov. 15) with road contests slated for Arizona State (Sept. 6), Texas Christian (Sept. 13), Washington (Sept. 27), Notre Dame (Oct. 4), UCLA (Oct. 18), Oregon (Nov. 8) and California (Nov. 22).
