Pac-10 Announces Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pacific-10 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 7-13:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week: JORDAN BOASE, WASHINGTON (Jr., Bothell, Wash.). Boase won the 400m Invitational at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe on Saturday against a prestigious field, running the fastest time in the NCAA's this year indoors or outdoors at 44.82. The time was a school-record, breaking the mark of 44.91 set by 10-time All-American Ja'Warren Hooker in 2000. It is also tied for the second-fastest time in the world this year. Boase, a three-time All-American, finished third in the 400-meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships, but had not run sincethen, and had never ran under 46-seconds before, let alone going under 45.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week: JONATHAN CLARK, UCLA (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.). Clark finished third in the invite triple jump at the RJ/JJK Invite with a lifetime-best and regional qualifying mark of 51-5.75 (old best 49-11). Also tied for second in the invite high jump (6-8.75) and was fourth in the open section of the long jump (23-2).

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: CHERRELLE GARRETT, CALIFORNIA (Fr., Hayward, Calif.). Garrett was a three-time winner at her first Big Meet last Saturday. She was victorious in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and ran the final leg of the first-place 4x100-meter relay. Garrett set a new personal best in the 100 meters with a regional-qualifying time of 11.51. She also set a new PR in the 200 at 24.01. The 4x100 relay clocked a season-best, regional-qualifying time of 45.03.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: TORI ANTHONY, UCLA (Fr., Woodside, Calif.). Anthony cleared a collegiate leading 13-9.75 in the invite pole vault at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational on Saturday. Her mark was a season-best for the freshman and ranks fourth all-time in UCLA pole vault history. She was the top collegiate finisher and third overall.

MEN'S FIELD - April 9 - Corey White, USC (JT); April 14 - Jonathan Clark, UCLA (TJ/HJ/LJ).

WOMEN'S TRACK - April 9 - Charonda Williams, ASU (100m/200m); April 14 - Cherrelle Garrett, CAL (100m/200m).

WOMEN'S FIELD - April 9 - Jacquelyn Johnson, ASU (Hept); April 14 - Tori Anthony, UCLA (PV).
