2008 U.S. Intercollegiate Championship To Begin On Saturday

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 11 Stanford men's golf team is hosting their only home tournament of the year, the 2008 U.S. Intercollegiate Championship this Saturday and Sunday at the Stanford Golf Course. The first round will begin at 7:30 a.m., shotgun start, Saturday morning with the second round being played immediately upon completion of the first. Sunday morning's third and final round will also being at 7:30 a.m.

This year's tournament features 16 other teams besides Stanford, including No. 5 USC, No. 3 UCLA, No. 20 ASU, No. 33 San Diego State, No. 57 California, No. 62 UC Irvine, No. 67 Minnesota, No. 238 Northern Colorado, No. 68 Washington, No. 45 Oregon State, No. 130 San Jose State, No. 53 TCU, No. 81 UC Davis, No. 87 Nevada, No. 50 Oregon, and No. 139 Toledo. The teams will be swinging away on the beautiful par-70 6,835 yard course on the Stanford campus.

Stanford will field a team of five men, No. 45 Rob Grube, No. 12 Sihwan Kim, Jordan Cox, Steve Ziegler, and Dodge Kemmer, for team competition. Daniel Lim, Graham Brockington, Matt Kennerknecht will all be competing as individuals.

Last year, the Cardinal earned a share of first place with Minnesota, shooting 838 over three rounds. Grube won the individual title in 2007, recording a eight-under-par 202.
