Hello Dawg Fans!

This weekend we are back at home to take on UCLA for a two game series. This past weekend in Arizona our team took a huge step forward by competing hard against tough competition and coming away with a win against top-ranked Arizona State. Even though we dropped two games, it wasn't indicative of how we played and battled. We are now starting to understand if we continue to fight and improve it is going to show up in our win column.

Going to Arizona and Arizona State is always a fun road trip. The weather was warm and it was nice waking up in the morning to sunshine and palm trees. On Friday night we played Arizona in Tucson, so the next morning we had to bus for two hours to Phoenix where Arizona State is located. On the way up we stopped for our annual visit to Coach Tarr's favorite restaurant the Cracker Barrel. Not only is it a restaurant, but it also has a country store. Here we had a great time looking at various nick-knacks such as prarie bonnets ,ceramic frogs, old fashion candy, and testing out rocking chairs. Also, the Cracker Barrel has various tables to play checkers at around the restaurant. Coach Gina (Carbonatto) beat me handily within ten minutes but only because I moved my checkers out of the back row too quickly ... a rematch will soon follow and I will let you know the results.

As we look ahead this weekend we will be playing UCLA for a game on both Friday and Saturday. Last time we met we lost in extra innings in a high scoring game. We have the confidence to put pressure on their defense, now we need to do a better job of keeping them off base and holding them in clutch situations. We are excited to play because we know UCLA always brings their best and the games should be very exciting. Come check us out this weekend if you can, there is only one more home stand after this one! GO DAWGS
