No. 5 UCLA Sweeps No. 22 UW With 4-0 Win
April 19, 2008
SEATTLE - Two UCLA pitchers combined to hold No. 22 Washington to just two hits as the fifth-ranked Bruins picked up a 4-0 win in a Pac-10 Conference game on Saturday at Husky Softball Stadium. UCLA improved to 38-5 and 10-2 in the Pac-10, while the Huskies fell to 25-16-1 and 4-7 in conference play.
Bruins starter Megan Langenfeld (6-0) held the Huskies to one hit through five innings before giving way to Anjelica Selden, who gave up one hit over the final two innings to pick up her second save of the season.
Amanda Kamekona doubled home Krista Colburn, who had singled, in the first inning to put the Bruins up 1-0.
UCLA tacked on three more runs in the seventh, with the final two coming on a two RBI-single by Langenfeld to right field. Both of those runs came after a rain delay sent the teams to their dugouts for twenty minutes.
Washington heads to the Bay Area next weekend for a single game against Stanford and two games at California. The Huskies face Stanford on Friday at 6:00 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on CSTV.
Notes: UCLA swept the season-series from the Huskies and now leads the all-time series 41-21 ... The Huskies are now 6-10 against teams ranked in the Top 25 ... Their was a second rain delay in the bottom of the seventh inning that lasted for 38 minutes.
