Watson Wins Long Jump At Penn Relays

April 24, 2008

Sophomore Danielle Watson highlighted members of the 12th-ranked women's track and field team on Thursday as she won the college section of the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 20-5.25. Watson was the only field event competitor as the Bruins had several relay teams run.

In the 4x100m relay, the team of juniors Nicole Leach and Krystin Lacy, freshman Lindsay Rowe and senior Jolanda Diego finished second in heat five and 12th overall with a time of 45.56. The foursome's time was good enough to advance to the finals, but the group will not run to insure the health of the athletes.

The 4x400m relay team of senior Merice Wisdom, Lacy, junior Chanelle Curry and Leach finished second in heat two and sixth overall with a season-best time of 3:34.77 (old season-best, 3:37.31).

In the distance medley relay, the team of freshmen Shannon Murakami and Joy Eaton, sophomore Krishna Curry and junior Lauren Jirges placed seventh in their heat with a time of 11:35.

Competition continues on Friday at the Penn Relays with more relays and field event action for the Bruins.
