Barringer and Pifer Lead Buffs at Oregon Relays

EUGENE, Ore.-Distance runners Stephen Pifer (senior) and Jenny Barringer (junior) led the Buffs at the Oregon Relays presented by Oregon Community Credit Union, as both earned first place finishes in the 1500m run on Friday. 

            Pifer ran an NCAA regional qualifying time of 3:41.55 to edge out Gabe Jennings of Eugene Health's professional team who ran a 3:41.83 and earned a first place finish in the 1500m run.  Teammate Brent Vaughn (senior) also recorded a regional qualifying time of 3:43.69, good for a fifth place finish and a new personal record.

            Barringer set a new personal record in the 1500m as she ran it in 4:17.19, the winning time was also a regional qualifying time.  Barringer beat Nicole Blood of Oregon by nearly a second and a half (4:18.55) to claim the 1500m title.

            Kevin Fasing (sophomore) led the Buffs in the men's javelin throw, as he recorded a throw of 192-04 in the finals to earn a sixth place finish.  Sophomore teammate Brandin Williams also competed in the javelin, as he placed eighth with a throw of 184-10.
